Profile Summary
Martin M. Mugi is the Managing Partner of Mamicha & Company Advocates, a position he has held since founding the firm in 1992. Admitted to the Bar as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya in 1991, he brings over three decades of experience advising clients on complex real estate transactions, project development, and banking and finance matters.

His work sits at the intersection of law, business strategy, and project execution. Martin regularly advises developers, financial institutions, and investors on property acquisitions, joint venture arrangements, project structuring, and financing transactions. Known for his ability to translate regulatory complexity into practical guidance, he works closely with project teams from the earliest planning stages through implementation and completion.

Over the years, Martin has amassed a wealth of experience in land law practice, securitization and project finance, corporate governance, banking and finance law, legal advisory to development finance institutions, debt restructuring, management, and recovery. He has also advised clients on subdivision and amalgamation of land, navigated complex legal and regulatory issues, and represented banks in the financing of large-scale projects.

Beyond his legal expertise, Martin brings a thoughtful and collaborative leadership style to his work. He believes that effective legal counsel requires not only technical precision but also a clear understanding of the commercial realities his clients face — combining careful legal analysis with strategic perspective to help clients navigate risk while moving projects forward with confidence.

He has participated in several international and local colloquiums and is a member of the Kenya Commercial Bank Developers Club and the Connecting Link Club of Housing Finance. Martin holds an LL.B. from the University of Nairobi and a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law and is currently pursuing a Master of Laws degree at Strathmore Law School. He is a member of the Law Society of Kenya and the East Africa Law Society.
